Compromise Agreement Letter

So what exactly is a compromise agreement and why would I want one?

A compromise agreement in the United Kingdom is a formal legal contract that is professionally drawn up and is between the employer and the employee.  It is basically concerned with a settlement for ending the employee’s employment.  Compromise agreements may be different in other countries.

A compromise agreement latter is so called because it is simply a compromise of terms between an employer and the employee.   The usual inclusions are a compensation payment and a number of termination clauses.  These provisions make certain that the agreement is finalized and will prevent any chance of the employee seeking further compensation in the future or deciding to bring further legal action.

The compromise agreement allows the employment relationship to end on an amicable note.  The employer is forced to abide with the employment laws so they cannot merely ‘contract out’ from allowing the employee rights so a compromise agreement is the solution.

Following the signing of the agreement the employee is forbidden to bring a claim for compensation against the employer and in front of an employment tribunal.   Professional legal advice must be sought and from a fully qualified solicitor in negotiations concerning compromise agreements.  They should be able to produce a fair and agreeable settlement for you.
